The red carpet has been rolled out...
Katherine's surgery went well, and she spent a few hours in recovery waking up. She is now in a room, a private room. Who says there aren't perks to working at the Medical Center? ;) Katherine's co-workers had arranged for a private room, and even went ahead of her to put up a yellow banner that says, "U R A SUPERHERO!" How sweet and what a greeting! She chatted a bit and looked great! They are hopeful that she will be able to go home in the morning, and then the real work of recovery begins. Because I know she would want to share some verses that are relevant to her at the moment*, please read on.
In their hunger you gave them bread from heaven and in their thirst you brought them water from the rock...You gave your good Spirit to instruct them. You did not withhold your manna from their mouths, and you gave them water for their thirst. Nehemiah 9:15a, 20
They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Psalm 107:5-6,8-9
The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the LORD will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them. Isaiah 41:17
Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Isaiah 55:1
Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:13-14
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:35
He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Revelation 21:6
The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life. Revelation 22:17
*Yes, she still hasn't eaten and is just now able to drink a bit...so thirsty. I think she would share these right now partially as a joke about her thirst/hunger and also in how she is being sustained through this.
