December News, part 1

This post is going to be the first in a series of updates. So much has happened over the past few weeks, and I think it's easier to just start where we left off - the brain MRI.

I had the brain MRI as scheduled on Dec. 9, then I had appointments with my neuro-oncologist and neurosurgeon just a couple of hours later. I figured they wouldn't have results and might be able to show me and surmise what they round, but I did not expect final results. The results I did expect were a spot or two on my brain that we could easily treat with the gamma knife surgery.

What we found out instead was that my brain now has a lot more cancer throughout and it is too extensive to use the gamma knife surgery that was so helpful for me before. One of the main reasons for that is that just in my cerebellum (the balance and coordination section), there are more than 30 lesions. There are also additional ones in various other parts of the brain, like the cerebral cortex, which controls your thinking and vision areas.

I had hoped we would have a plan to share with you when posting this news, but that only came on Thursday of this week and now so much more has happened. I needed to put it all out there so you would know the latest info and I could also who has what part of the puzzle.

Stay tuned for part 2.
